Delivery Agent, which made its name powering online commerce and marketing initiatives for TV networks, on Thursday announced the acquisition of the invitation-only, discount luxury-shopping site Billion Dollar Babes. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. 
Spam compliance company UnsubCentral will unveil a new service Thursday that enables marketers to allow Web users to manage the types of behaviorally targeted ads they receive. The new program, dubbed PreferenceCentral, will allow brands to collect information directly from consumers about whether they want targeted ads and if so, for which types of products. The program is designed to work in conjunction with the soon-to-debut behavioral targeting icons, which will carry metadata that includes information about the advertiser and links to the company.

The data security debacle that landed consumer credit card data in Google search results and "raw transition data" in the HTML code on some Blippy pages should serve as a warning to the advertising industry as it becomes more entrenched in technology. Some traditional marketers don't fully understand the consequences. 
In a mixed ruling in a click fraud lawsuit, U.S. District Court Judge Jeremy Fogel in San Jose, Calif. has held that marketers can sue Facebook for allegedly charging them for "invalid" clicks, but not for "fraudulent" ones. In the decision, issued Thursday, Fogel tentatively agreed with Facebook that a disclaimer in its ad contract protects it from liability for fraudulent clicks generated by third parties. But Fogel also ruled that the disclaimer was ambiguous regarding Facebook's liability for its own errors in counting clicks. 
MediaTrust has acquired Bardon Advisors, a cost per click (CPC) search and affiliate marketing platform, which enables their advertisers to pay per click, in addition to lead or sale.
